The Book on Courtney Love | The Fix ›

For almost a year, Courtney Love talked to The Fix about the cost of fame and her daily struggle with sobriety. Her candid confessions and a host of surprising new revelations are captured in The Fix’s first e-book, Courtney Comes Clean.

Maer Roshan first met Courtney Love on an unseasonably balmy New York evening in September 2010, a night before she was scheduled to headline an annual event to celebrate sobriety.

Roshan, the editor and founder of The Fix, arrived at SoHo’s tony Mercer Hotel armed with a note-pad and a tape recorder. He discovered Courtney slouched in a banquette, nursing a bottle of Stella Artois. Though their meeting was initially scheduled to last just 30 minutes, they went on speaking for close to a year. Holed up in her cluttered, couture-filled suite, the battle-scarred legend spoke movingly about her thrilling and often tragic life—candidly dwelling on her longtime struggles with addiction, her ambivalence about AA, and her stints in rehab. Courtney Love Wins Lawsuit Against Landlord | TMZ ›

Courtney Love will NOT be evicted from her luxury Manhattan townhouse — TMZ has learned, a judge just tossed out the landlord’s case, because it turns out Courtney did exactly what a good tenant is supposed to do — pay her rent.

Courtney’s landlord filed the eviction lawsuit, claiming she owed $54,000 for 2 months of back rent.  But the judge just ruled the landlord was way off base.  Turns out the landlord and Courtney had made an agreement after the lease was signed that altered the payment schedule.  Courtney was paying according to the new deal, but the landlord was trying to enforce the original one.

So bottom line … Courtney gets to stay.

P.S.  The landlord said originally that in addition to owing rent, Courtney accidentally set the joint on fire.  The judge didn’t address the whole fire thing.

The Associated Press: Courtney Love memoir to 'set the record straight' ›

NEW YORK (AP) — Courtney Love is ready to spill.

The hard-living rock star and actress known for her band Hole and for her brief marriage to Kurt Cobain has a book deal with William Morrow.

Morrow is an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers. It announced Thursday that Love will “set the record straight.”

Her memoir will address life with Cobain, the Nirvana leader who died in 1994, her drug problems and her Hollywood career.

The memoir is currently untitled and is scheduled to come out next fall.

She’s among several musicians who recently agreed to write memoirs. Those include Neil Young, Pete Townshend, Carole King and Gregg Allman.

[…] If you wanted to see her process, you needed only to head to dinner at Café Gitane last night. Pratt, her staff, and a few of her famous friends were on hand—and those famous friends are also, she revealed, soon to be staffers of sorts. “Courtney [Love] and I are talking about having her write a regular column for us,” Pratt told Style.com. “She brings a whole new perspective to whatever she does.” Pratt got plenty of Love when her 1992 Sassy cover girl arrived at the after-party. They greeted one another with multiple hugs and girlish squeals of excitement—in other words, like the oldest of friends, which, Love pointed out, is what they are. “We both don’t remember how we met, actually,” she said, glancing at Pratt. “I believe it was through Michael Stipe,” the editor added.

They continued toward the fireplace to join Stipe, where the three of them held court for most of the evening. It was an evening of Courtney’s usual high jinks: She tried on Stipe’s glasses, removed her shoes, and took iPhone photos of herself and others until she eventually got distracted by her cigarette in hand. To those nearby, she went into a lecture on how to properly smoke in public as she crossed her legs, adjusted the train of her flesh-toned silk dress, and tossed her head back to blow smoke into the air. Unfiltered talk, you might say. It should fit right in with Pratt’s trademark grabby style on xoJane.com.
